Axis deer are undeniably beautiful and considered one of the most attractive of all wild deer. Their iconic horns and reddish-brown spotted coats make them unique. What’s most impressive is their long barrel shaped antlers.

Also considered one of the best tasting wild game meats, the axis deer makes for a great harvest game.

Native to India, the axis deer also known as spotted deer, or chital was first introduced to Texas in 1932.

At the Buck Horn Ranch, axis deer can be hunted by rifle, bow, crossbow, pistol, and black powder.  We have strategically placed tent blinds and tripods for close range shots.  Our year-round feed program and food plots ensure a successful hunt.
